| Statement
In general, I work with video and photography, on themes of time and transformation that occur in specific places. I return to the idea landscape as sublime, overwhelming and romantic, revealed in a meditative and reflective manner, without impositions of meaning or narrative, yet they are inevitable in the reading of the videos. In most of the pieces will feel the tension between nature and industry, the local and global. They reflect the interaction with the environment and its changes, leaving the viewer to question of the consequences of these changes and influences on their identity and culture.
Landscapes have an urban element and an element of nature, are primarily places where water is referred or present, can be from a fountain to a harbour. I am particularly interested in natural cycles, changes and transformations that may not be noticeable at first but have a significant impact in time and space, with a marked impression of human activity, even if though sometimes people are not present in the videos.
I try to portray biorhythms / cycles in combination with the artificial, which sometimes obtain in places that I choose to capture images or/ and sometimes in post-production including sounds and manipulating the image. I try to make analogies, looking at complex relationships with the natural environment and our subjective relation with space and time and that changes in relation to our identity. I try to integrate the suspension of the space and temporality of history. |
